Please note, that this inspection is not a builders report for building code related issues.
However, we will identify building work constructed under schedule 1 that you may want to have a building inspection of or included into an arranged builders inspection.
Granny Flat exemption
The Governments Granny flat Exemption (Detached Minor Residential Unit) came into effect on 15 January 2026.
Whilst this sounds straight forward this may not be the case and may come with some hooks.
Christchurch's land is unique, which has natural hazard areas which could preclude you under this exemption. Our assessment provides advice should this be on the property you're looking at.
